No Long Lines at the DMV? We’re In, But Are Governments?

Stephanie Ross quit her job as a computer programmer at Pfizer in Atlanta to tackle a problem many of us have faced—long lines and inefficient processes at the Department of Motor Vehicles. Ross designed a smart license plate, with a chip that makes it easier for cops to trace plates and for us to register and renew them online. A software program goes along with it. There are clearly many legal and privacy issues Ross will have to confront for this to work, but she showed up to the CED Tech Venture Conference September 16-17 to unveil a prototype and begin talking to investors. She says she’s already got the state of South Carolina on board to test it out.
