Cary ‘cloud’ IT services firm Samanage raises $5 million

Samanage is betting on the “cloud” as the platform for delivery of information technology services. Groupon likes the Cary-based firm. So do its investors, which have put another $5 million into the company. And Samanage is hiring.

“Samanage delivers twice as much ROI and twice as less TCO than competitors,” says Groupon Chief Information Officer Alex Mochkin, referring to return on investment and total cost of ownership.

Other customers must be agreeing. Samanage, which operates in Cary, the Netherlands and Israel, says it has grown 30 percent in each of the last six quarters.

The company capitalized on the growth to raise $5 million from Carmel Ventures and Gemini Israeli Ventures. Both firms were already invested in the privately held company.

“We’ve seen incredible growth in the past few quarters and this has really been pushing us to expand,” said Doron Gordon, Samanage’s CEO, in announcing the funding. “Our customers deserve an easy-to-use enterprise software application that they actually love to use and that’s what we plan to continue rolling out in an aggressive manner to organizations looking to enhance their service, while reducing workload.”

The additional funding will be used for cales and marketing efforts as well as product development.

Samanage also is looking for people.

According to its website, Samanage is looking to hire a web graphic designer. it also has openings for Ruby-on-Rails developers. 

With a customer base that now 5 countries, Samanage says it is challenging larger rivals such as ServiceNow and BMC.

The company launched in 2007.

Offerings include IT service desk, problem and change management, hardware and software tracking, a contract repository, and inventory risk detection.
