Information technology company 6fusion has launched a marketplace to buy and sell infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) contracts.

Raleigh-based 6fusion says that the marketplace standardizes IaaS contracting across service providers and makes it simpler to compare and contrast prices and terms. IaaS is a category of cloud computing in which an organization contracts with a provider to access equipment, including hardware, servers and networking components.

“The marketplace is highly disruptive because it brings the principles of market economics to an industry currently dominated by one supplier,” 6fusion CEO and co-founder John Cowan said in a statement. “6fusion is making it possible for buyers and sellers to have an apples-to-apples business conversation about supply and demand across heterogeneous infrastructure platforms and suppliers.”

The 6fusion Marketplace beta is available today. 6fusion is accepting signups at its website,
