DURHAM, N.C. – Joe Davy has been named the chief executive officer of BUYSTAND.
The Durham e-commerce startup backed by 8 Rivers Capital made the announcement on Thursday.
Davy is the co-founder and former Chief Product Officer at EvoApp. BUYSTAND is developing novel e-commerce technologies that empower both customers and retailers.
“Joe brings a wealth of entrepreneurial experience and knowledge to the BUYSTAND team,” said 8 Rivers’ Ted Kraus, who founded BUYSTAND. “He has the leadership and vision to ensure the company reaches its substantial potential.”
BUYSTAND’s first product, BUYSTAND.com, provides “Make-An-Offer Shopping” to consumers in the active lifestyle market, including the outdoors and action sports segments. Using a Dynamic Pricing Engine, BUYSTAND.com matches customers’ offers with retailers’ and brands’ willingness to sell their products, which the company says redefines the e-commerce shopping experience.
“There is a tremendous opportunity to change the way consumers and retailers think about pricing,” said Joe Davy. “Our company is squarely in the path of that opportunity.”
Davy is a serial entrepreneur who comes to BUYSTAND from EvoApp, a Durham-based tech startup that he co-founded in 2009. He is a graduate of the N.C. School of Science and Mathematics and attended UNC Chapel Hill. Davy serves on the Customer Advisory Board for Microsoft and is a Board Member at the N.C. Museum of Art.
8 Rivers Capital also is based in Durham.
