Patrick Oakes, a former executive at Encore Bancshares, is joining the management team at the Durham-based venture capital bank Square 1 as its chief financial officer.
Oakes’ appointment was announced early Tuesday.
“Square 1 has achieved great things in a few short years, and today it is the premier provider of financial services to emerging companies and their investors,” Oakes said in a statement.
“I look forward to joining such a strong team and playing a key role in Square 1’s future successes”
Square 1 recently observed its seventh anniversary and has nearly $2 billion in assets with more than 1,300 clients.
An MBA graduate of Richmond University, Oakes has more than 20 years of experience in the financial sector. At Encore he served as executive vice president and CFO. He earned his undergraduate degree at Texas A&M.
