TimeWarner Cable is rolling out Wi-Fi service through hot spots set up in several areas of Charlotte.

The service is free for TWC customers and $2.95 per hour for pay-as-you-go customers.

However, there’s no word yet when the service might be offered in the Triangle.

“We have plans to expand,” a TimeWarner spokesperson told WRAL Tech Wire. “We’re still looking at what cities to add.”

Charlotte is the fourth area where the new TWC Wi-Fi is available. Other regions include Los Angeles, New York City, New Jersey and Connecticut, the spokesperson said.

The Charlotte service will be made available free of charge during the upcoming Democratic Party convention.

The Queen City hot spots have been set up in Center City, Southend, Myers Park, Dilworth and Midtown.

Users can access TWC WiFi through a free WiFi Finder App for both iOS and Android mobile devices.

Before year’s end, TWC said it plans to have 100,000 hot spots across the country.
