Charlotte-based retailer Belk will utilize e-commerce services from Morrisville-based ChannelAdvisor for comparison shopping and data feed management.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Belk becomes the second major retailer to sign on with ChannelAdvisor this month, joining Eddie Bauer.

“In our search for an e-commerce solution provider, we found that ChannelAdvisor’s feed management capabilities far surpassed other software offerings on the market,” said Belk Senior Vice President of E-Commerce Ivy Chin. “The ChannelAdvisor platform gives us the ability to create custom feeds that meet the specifications of each shopping engine as well as other online marketing vendors in order to maximize our online exposure. Our goal is to expand into new markets where we do not have retail locations, and we’re already seeing high volumes of orders from states outside of our brick-and-mortar grid. We are very pleased with this functionality and the positive results from this new partnership.”

The ChannelAdvisor Comparison Shopping service gives customers the ability to submit information to more than 100 shopping engines around the world.

ChannelAdvisor’s Flex Feeds allows customers to design custom data feeds.

“Product data feeds are the foundation of many online marketing programs and are quickly becoming a common currency in the e-commerce industry,” said ChannelAdvisor Director of Product Management Link Walls. “With the evolution of new marketing tools and the Google Shopping program, having sophisticated e-commerce software in place that can correctly manage data feeds is mandatory for online retail success. ChannelAdvisor is a master at data feed strategy and execution, and will provide Belk the enhanced online exposure that it desires as well as a new revenue stream to improve Belk’s overall bottom line.”
