DURHAM, N.C. – BioSignia has acquired Doctor’s Direct.
BioSignia is a Durham-based company that sells the “Know Your Number” web-based health platform. The company on Tuesday announced that it acquired Fayetteville-based Doctors Direct Healthcare, which works with employers to help their employees lead healthier lives.
Both companies are privately held, and the terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
The acquisition fills a hole that BioSignia had in its offerings; one that some of its clients have been asking about, according to BioSignia representatives.
BioSignia’s “Know Your Number” mantra assesses the likelihood that individuals will develop chronic, preventable diseases. Historically the company has partnered with other groups to license the online platform.
Doctors Direct has 20 employees as does BioSignia. Doctors Direct was owned by a group of about 300 physicians mostly in and around Fayetteville.
Prior to the acquisition, Doctors Direct had used the “Know Your Number” platform for about a decade, according to the company. The companies will continue to operate independently, and day-to-day operations will not change.
Leadership at both companies reportedly will remain the same.
