RALEIGH, N.C. – The Summer Olympics Games in 2012 will be nothing like we’ve ever seen before – at least from the technology perspective.

Twitter, YouTube, smart phones, tablets … the list goes on.

For the first time in Olympic history, there are official apps to keep fans updated no matter where they are.

The Official London 2012 Join In app from Verizon Wireless offers tools to help plan and share Olympic game experiences. Users can enjoy tracking various stages of the games from the start of the Olympic Torch Relay, the opening and closing ceremonies, and the winning moments from whichever sport.

The Official London 2012 Results app provides up-to-date news, schedules and results to stay informed about the latest events live across all Olympic sports. Key features include live updates, calendar schedules, and details of sports, medal tables and athlete profiles.

Also, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and YouTube users can enjoy watching the London 2012 Olympics Games broadcast live online on their computer, smartphone or mobile device.

The live stream will be available by accessing the IOC channel on YouTube. Use is free of charge and will be available from July 27 through Aug. 12. The stream offers 11 different HD broadcasts with 2,200 hours of live event coverage.
