RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – Call venture capitalists demeaning terms like “vulture capitalists” as often as you like, but the American public still sees the VCs as job creators, not job destroyers.

In a new poll, Rasmussen Reports says 57 percent of likely U.S. voters believe that venture capitalists are “better job creators” than the government.

“Just 27 percent think government programs are a better way to create jobs,” Rasmussen says.

The remainder are unsure.

Rasmussen’s poll drew opinions from some 1,000 people.

Interestingly, in the same time frame over the past few days the daily Rasmussen poll shows Republican Mitt Romeny, who once ran the Bain private equity group, with just a slight lead over President Obama.
