Quintiles, the world’s largest life science industry services provider, is expanding again.

The Triangle-based company said Thursday it is targeting Brazil for growth, opening a Global Commercial Solutions operation in Sao Paulo.

The business unit will offer sales forces, market strategy and product solutions. The expansion is the third in recent months following next operations targeting Russia as well as the Middle East and North Africa.

Vera Valente, who most recently was director of the Brazilian pharmaceutical research companies association known as Interfarma, will serve as general manager of the Quintiles operation.

“Brazil is an increasingly important and growing commercial market, and we’re eager to help our customers enter this market in a way that manages risks and increases the probability of success,” said James Featherstone, senior vice president of Global Commercial Solutions, in a statement. “Vera’s experience and relationships in both corporate and government settings in Brazil will help customers navigate the country’s commercialization landscape. This is vital as we work with customers to achieve faster market access and sustained success in this rapidly growing country and region.”

Valentahas worked 14 years in the biopharma sector.
