Lenovo is expanding its footprint in the Triangle.
The world’s No. 2 PC manufacturer said Friday it is taking over 70,000 square feet on two floors of a third building at its campus in Morrisville.
Lenovo operates its executive headquarters in Perimeter Park. Most of its operations are based in China.
Recently, Lenovo also expanded its distribution center in the Triad.
The additional space is needed to accommodate growth, Lenovo said.
“We owe our success to the people behind our company, who are among the best and brightest minds in the industry,” said Rob Cones, vice president and Morrisville site executive for Lenovo. “This expansion not only gives our employees extra space to work, collaborate, and pioneer new ideas, it also positions us for future growth in North Carolina. A great work environment plays a critical part of our commitment of being a best place to work.”
Lenovo employs some 2,000 people at the campus.
The space will be used to “accommodate overcrowding” in the two existing buildings and for space to house new employees as well as “yet-to-be-hired” workers, Lenovo said.
The space will be occupied beginning in July.
Lenovo trails only HP in global PC sales.
