Apparently the long-running battle between Cary-based Epic Games and studio Silicon Knights is far from over.
The head of the Silicon Knights told website Joystiq on Thursday that the company would appeal a $4.5 million loss to Epic. The decision was announced Wednesday at a federal court in Raleigh after a trial lasting more than a week.
The jury awarded Epic the $4.5 million in damages on a variety of issues.
But the cost could actually be much higher since Epic can file a claim to recover court and attorney’s fees – which no doubt are substantial. The case dates back to 2007.
Denis Dyack of Silicon Knights said the company was “disappointed by the outcome.”
