RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – The voting is finished, and the field is down to two finalists for the People’s Choice honor in the “Full Steam Ahead Awards” from WRAL Tech Wire. The winner will be announced Thursday night.

The two executives actually dominated the voting.

  • Troy Tolle, the co-founder and chief technology officer at educational software firm Infinity Learning Solutions, drew a surge in support early this week.
  • Joe Carr, chief executive officer at solar energy firm Semprius here in the Triangle, also received plenty of attention.

They must have plenty of “friends” on Facebook.

The awards show, which starts at 6 p.m. at Fullsteam Brewery in Durham, is to celebrate high tech, entrepreneurship and life science across North Carolina as part of WRAL Tech Wire’s 10th anniversary.

The finalists in 15 other categories represent an intriguing mix of veteran and young entrepreneurs as well as companies.

We’re playing off a railroad theme as we celebrate North Carolina’s tech and life science industries as well as groups and organizations that support tech or utilize the latest in IT to transform their businesses.
