Cisco (Nasdaq: CSCO) says it is expanding its network management suite by acquiring California-based Truviso, a network data analysis and reporting software firm.

“Customers want to be able to tap into and better analyze the enormous volume of data traversing their networks to identify ways to enhance services and generate new revenue opportunities,” said Jamie Lerner, vice president and general manager of Cisco Network Management Technology Group. “Embedding Truviso’s real time business intelligence into the network will help customers unlock these capabilities at the speed of the network.”

Financial details were not disclosed.

Truviso is privately held.

The company’s technology enables service providers and enterprise users to track network use and services in real time.

The tools enable customers to increase efficiency and also fine new revenue streams.
