Lenovo is celebrating the expansion of its big fulfillment center and warehouse today in the Triad and also is going to announce additional jobs this morning, according to a news report.

WFMY in Greensboro said a company spokesperson told the station “the expansion will result in more jobs.”

The center in Whitsett opened in 208 and originally employed 100 people. Lenovo currently has some 160 people working there, WFMY said.

The expansion increased the size of the facility to 240,000 square feet, The Triad Business Journal reported. The newspaper said Lenovo is expanding the building in order to keep up with growth in retail and small business sales.

Increasing sales in North American markets is a key goal in Lenovo’s efforts to grow business internationally.

Lenovo, the world’s No. 2 PC manufacturer, maintains its executive headquarters in Morrisville.
