The City of Raleigh didn’t look very far to pick a provider of online procurement services.

SciQuest (Nasdaq: SQI) said Monday that the capital city had selected the Cary-based company for e-procurement and supplier management services.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

SciQuest has customers worldwide, from universities to a growing number of government institutions, for its offerings, which are delivered through a software-as-a-service model.

“By integrating SciQuest with our existing ERP [enterprise resource planning] system, we will be able to enhance the overall purchasing process, helping to save the tax payers of Raleigh a significant amount of money,” said Perry James, chief financial officer of the City of Raleigh, in a statement. “The capacity to automate supplier registration and on-boarding to support accounts payable will free the city’s financial professionals from time-consuming administrative work and enable them to focus on strategic budget planning.”
