If you’re looking for a good beer, Beer Prophet figures there’s no one better to ask than yourself. So it’s an app for that.
The 99-cent add-on from the Apple App Store comes from Raleigh-based Zooqini LLC, which includes Tir na nOg pub owner Peter Pagano. You tell the app what beers you know you like, and it compares your taste with beers in its database.
The focus is on craft beers.
“With over 3,500 beers and growing, Beer Prophet creates personalized recommendations of beers with similar characteristics to ones you enjoy,” the app’s website boasts.
Pagano and his partners clearly are about fun, not hard-core software development.
“We are four guys who decided that we had plenty of ideas rattling around in our brain, and we need to get them in bits and bytes,” they say on the website for Zooqini, which was born last January. “So, we created Zooqini as an umbrella for all our cool stuff. We will keep posting our new ideas here as we develop them. Keep us bookmarked in case we discover teleportation or reveal the design of [the] flux capacitor.”
