Raleigh-based Sensus, which focuses on smart metering technology, reportedly is up for sale.
Reuters news service is reporting that Sensus has retained Credit Suisse to find a buyer.
The company, which also has an operation in Morrisvlle, could be worth up to $1 billion, Reuters said.
Spokesmen for Sensus and Credit Suisse declined comment, Reuters reported.
Sensus recently named a new chief financial officer and also went through a reorganization.
