Southern Capitol Ventures’ latest “Entrepreneur’s Series” will focus on opportunities and trends in healthcare information technology.

The event is set for Thursday morning, Oct. 6, at the Brier Creek Country Club.

The Raleigh-based early stage venture capital fund puts on the entrepreneur events to not only brief local executives about trends in various fields but also to provide them with an opportunity to meet and network with potential investors.

Headlining Thursday’s program in John Cooper, a former corporate development officer at Microsoft who now is managing partner at Archpoint Partners. He will provide an overview of trends in the healthcare IT space. Cooper was involved in more than 30n transactions at Microsoft.

The program will include a panel discussion that will include Cooper as well as Steve Malik, president of Intuit Health who sold his Cary-based company Medfusion to Intuit in 2010 for $91 million.

Other panelists include Art Glasgow, chief information officer at Duke Medicine, and Matt Jenkins, vice president of corporate development at Allscripts.
