A graphic from IBM (see at left) breaks down where traffic is worst for commuters across the world.

Mexico City is worse with a “pain index” of 108 followed by Shenzen (95) and Beijing (95) in China.

Growth does have consequences.

The least pain? Montreal at 21.

“The survey, which polled 8,042 commuters in 20 cities on six continents, is conducted by IBM to better understand consumer attitudes around traffic congestion as the issue reaches crisis proportions around the world,” IBM says. “IBM compiled the results of the survey into its Commuter Pain Index that ranks the emotional and economic toll of commuting in each city, with the highest ranking being the most onerous.”

  • Chinese solar firm buys IBM campus

A Chinese firm, meanwhile, has bought a vacant IBM campus in New York and will locate its U.S. headquarters there. The company says it plans to hire 1,000 people, the Mid-Hudson News reports.
