The number of startup companies stampeding to locate in downtown Durham is a lot smaller for the second Bull City “Startup Stampede.”
And most of those registered late.
A total of 53 companies applied for the space with 20 of those coming in the final 12 hours before the application deadline, according to the Bull City Startup Stampede website. The Herald Sun newspaper says the final count ended up being 55.
Startup Stampede will pick 12 or more companies for the “2.0” program that begins in September.
Nearly 80 applied the first time.
