RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – On Aug. 29, Raleigh will be host to a historic gaming event for independent developers. It’s “Raleigh Game On,” the first of a hopefully will be an annual event.

Raleigh Game On will feature a who’s who of independent game developers such as: Mighty Rabbit Studios, Lab Rats Studio, Lunar Workshop, Galeforce Logic, Spark Plug Games, Nakai Entertainment, Fairlady Media, Raison d Etre Games, Pangolin Games and We Fiends.

Lab Rats already has a major publisher for its first title.

Is there another hit-game developer like Cary-based Epic Games in the group? Game On could offer strong hints.

Raleigh Game On is for anyone to come out and check the latest in indie gaming and via friendly competition. If you attend, you will help decide which is the best game of the show.

The event will be held at The Hive, in downtown Raleigh from 7 pm to 10 pm.

Admission is free, although money for food and drinks is recommended.

Parking is available in a nearby parking deck.

See you there!

Around the gaming world:

Modern Warfare 3 is on its way and on Aug. 9 a new trailer hit the web: Spec Ops Survival Mode.

This mode looks fantastic. Spec Ops in Modern Warfare 2 was highly intense, especially on the higher difficulties. But adding in a survival mode? The most intense of all gameplay modes? Combined with all the new equipment and weapons MW3 is bringing to the table, I simply cannot wait for this game.

Check out the trailerhere.
