The “Startup Stampede” is back with a 2.0 version.

The City of Durham, the Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce and other partners are teaming up to offer selected companies two months of free office space and related services.

Goals include helping companies grow and, hopefully, stay in Durham.

“We’re ready to build on that success and bring a bunch of new, talented startup founders to the Bull City.” The backers say. “We’ll make it easy for you — free, cool space; a community of peers; a chance to learn from successful startup founders; and 60 days to experience all the Bull City has to offer.”

Applications are being accepted for the new program, which launches in September. The deadline to apply is Aug. 12.

According to the organizers, nine of the 11 firms selected for the first Stampede earlier this year have stayed in Durham.

New to the program this fall is what the organizers call a “Ripple crowdfunding” fund in which supports can contribute $25 or more to vote on the finalists. The top vote getter receives automatic admission to the program.
