NouvEON, an information technology consulting firm with employees across North Carolina, is now part of China-based HiSoft.

The Beijing-based company paid $5.5 million in cash for all the equity in NouvEON, which has an operation in Morrisville with some 30 consultants. NouvEON launched in 2003. Its corporate headquarters were in Charlotte.

HiSoft will maintain both operations, and the management team of NouvEON “will become the structure for all HiSoft’s US-based IT services,” a company spokesperson said. Among those joining HiSoft is NouvEON President T.J. Eberle.

The company focused on the finance and energy sectors.

Contingencies based on performance could increase the value of the deal. The deal closed July 8 and was announced Tuesday.

HiSoft employs some 6,000 people worldwide and has approximately 150 consultants in the US.

“We’ll serve as the US IT services division,” said Charlotte-based Tom Walsh, a marketing analyst for the US business unit. With the US deal, HiSoft now offers “a truly global offering,” he explained.

Added HiSoft Chief Executive Officer Tiak Koon Loh: “We believe NouvEON’s value-driven services and tailored solutions combined with their strong domain expertise in financial services will greatly benefit HiSoft and our global client base.”
