Local technology news:

• Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies is adding more capacity to its contract manufacturing infrastructure at its Morrisville facility.

The 1,000 liter Xcellerex Single-Use Bioreactor is part of the firm’s continuing cell culture manufacturing expansion. The facility also has a 200 liter bioreactor.

• Charlotte-based Babcock & Wilcox Company’s Technical Services Group has landed a $417 million nuclear cleanup contract at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Idaho site. The group has already selected four subcontractors for the project.
The contract is for four years.

• Ricky Elrod, who plans to major in computer science at the University of Akron, is the winner of the 2011 Fedora Scholarship. Elrod has been a volunteer for the Fedora Project.
