MORRISVILLE, N.C. – Scot Wingo, a veteran entrepreneur and founder as well as chief executive officer at Morrisville-based ChannelAdvisor, keeps his fingers on the pulse of the surging e-commerce business world. The company recently hosted an international commerce about e-commerce trends, and ChannelAdvisor is one of the world’s top services provider for such companies as Amazon and eBay (also a ChannelAdvisor investor).
Wingo recently launched a new blog that focuses on the emerging factor of social media phenomenon Facebook as a player in e-commerce.
“As we think about commerce, Facebook Pages are one of the ways in which online retailers are trying to leverage Facebook for brand, conversation, engagement and ultimately, more sales,” Wingto wrote in announcing the blog. “So clearly any blog about Facebook Commerce has to spend a fair amount of time looking at Pages.”
He thus launched the “CA Facebook Commerce Index.”
“We are very early in the life of Facebook commerce and it remains to be seen if pages will be the foundation of Facebook commerce in the future, one of a many-pronged strategy or (not probable, but possible)simply not something that retailers should focus on,” Wingo said.
“The goal for the ChannelAdvisor Facebook Commerce Index is pretty simple – to track the trends in page fans for online retailers and use that data to deduce best practices for online retailer fan acquisition.”
WRAL Tech Wire will publish portions of Wingo’s blog, beginning with the March index, which was released this week. Read here for the first excerpt.
Wingo joins a growing number of contributors to WRAL Tech Wire, including entrepreneur and now academic Vivek Wadhwa, the team at Three Ships Media and N.C. State Economist Michael Walden.
