Joseph Nixon, a veteran life sciences executive, is the new business development director at the North Carolina Biotechnology Center.

Nixon’s primary focus will be the management of loans to emerging biotech companies in the state as well as the Biotech Center stakes’in various angel investor networks.

“Joe brings a valuable combination of skills and experience to this important Biotechnology Center position,” said Peter Ginsberg, vice president of Business and Technology Development at the Biotech Center, in a statement.

Nixon has worked in business development and licensing at Novartis and Alkermes. He also has worked for NetGenics and the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

Nixon is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University with a degree in biology. He earned an MBA at Harvard.
