Ten North Carolina-based startups and five from Georgia are among the first companies selected to present at the Southeast Venture Conference.

The fifth annual event is set for March 2-3 in Atlanta. It is put on by TechMedia, which is based in RTP.

Some 50 companies in all will be picked from across the south and Mid-Atlantic, according to conference organizers.

The first selections are:

• StatSheet – Durham, N.C.

• Valencell – Raleigh, N.C.
• Vertical Acuity – Atlanta, Ga.
• Xanofi – Raleigh, N.C.
• XinRay Systems – Research Triangle Park, N.C.
