Sensus, a developer of “smart grid” software networking technology and meters, has landed a contract with PECO, an electric and natural gas utility provider, to deploy its smart grid technology.

PECO is part of Exelon Corporation.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Over a period of 10 years, PECO will deploy networking and metering technology from Sensus to some 1.6 million customers.

Smart grid technology enables firms to improve management, automation and monitoring of utility grids and networks.

Sensus now has more than 225 utility clients as customers.
