More Internet users in the U.S. hit Facebook than Google’s home page this year, according to a research firm that tracks Web usage data, the first time the massive social networker has surpassed the search and information giant.

However, Experian Hitwise reported, Google kept the top spot when all its sites were folded together.

Counting from January through November, said Facebook accounted 8.93 percent of all U.S. Web visits . Google.com ranked second with 7.19 percent of visits, the company said. Then came Yahoo! Mail at 3.52 percent, Yahoo! at 3.30 percent and YouTube at 2.65 percent.
