Christmas may be at hand for iPhone customers and wannabes who want the Apple smartphone to be sold by someone other than AT&T.
According to MacDailyNews, Verizon will launch iPhone sales right after Christmas.
Citing a source “believe to be familiar with the matter,” the website says AT&T asked for the delay of the announcement – and the loss of its iPhone exclusivity – until after Christmas.
However, the report also links the iPhone-Verizon release to Verizon’s still fledgling 4G high-speed wireless network.
“While some of these rumors carry a little more weight than others, I would caution anyone getting their hopes up about an iPhone that is 4G capable any time in 2011,” Cnet reports.
