John Roese, former chief technology officer at Nortel Networks, is joining communications equipment manager Huawei as its senior vice president and general manager for research and development in North America.
Nortel, which is disposing of most of its assets through bankruptcy, once employed 8,000 people in RTP.
“Innovation has long been the driving force behind Huawei’s success and I am looking forward to working closely with some of the brightest minds in the industry in developing world class solutions,” Roese said in a statement.
