Students from Raleigh’s Exploris Middle School joined more than 1,000 of their peers from across the country Wednesday in a virtual town hall discussion about math and science education. The entire student body gathered at the Museum of Natural Sciences to log on.
Exploris eight-grader Rebecca Evans was among those selected to ask a question during the event, called “Math, Science and the Future of Our Nation.”
Former Vice President Al Gore, the hosts of the TV show “Mythbusters” and astronaut Sally Ride were among the panelists taking questions from students about studies and careers in the sciences.
The global online town hall is part of Connect a Million Minds (CAMM), TWC’s $100 million cash and in-kind philanthropic commitment to connect youth to ideas, people and opportunities that will inspire them to pursue education and careers in science, technology, engineering and math.
