Charles Jones, the chairman of Peopleclick Authoria, has taken over as chief executive officer of the human resources and work force services firm.

The privately held company, which operates in Raleigh and Waltham, Mass., announced the change late Friday.

Jones, who is the managing director of Bedford Funding, also made several other changes in the management team.

Jones replaces Joseph Licata, Jr., who joined Peopleclick Authoria in April. Licata came to the company with more than 25 years of management experience.

“Joe Licata is departing to pursue an investment acquisition in an unrelated business sector,” Peopleclick Authoria said in a statement. “We wish him every success in this entrepreneurial effort.”

Bedford Funding, a New York-based private equity firm with some $800 million in capital, bought Peopleclick in January of this year for $100 million.

As part of the deal, Peopleclick was merged with Authoria, which also was owned by Bedford Funding.

Jones ran the merged company as chairman and CEO until the hiring of Licata.

Founded in 1997, Peopleclick had some 200 employees in Raleigh at the time of the purchase.

Jones was chairman and CEO of Canada-based Geac Computer Corporation before joining Bedford Funding.

The combined company includes some 60 percent of Fortune 100 companies as clients, according to Bedford Funding.

Peopleclick Authoria operates four data centers and eight offices in the U.S. as well as operations in Belgium, the United Kingdom and India.

Peopleclick has more than 2,100 clients in 214 countries around the world.

In other changes, Jones named Doug Ring as chief technology officer, Christian Merhy as vice president of marketing and Mike Ditson as vice president of corporate education and development.

Ring, who also worked at Bedford Funding, is a former executive at Geac and Dun & Bradstreet.

Merhy has worked at BMC Software and Rational Software.
Ditson has worked with FTP Software, RSA Security, Groove Networks and Avaya,
