, a contract research organization that provides a variety of services to life science and medical device companies, is more than doubling its headcount and adding more office space in Morrisville.

The California-based company says it will increase its Triangle staff by many as 30 jobs over the next year.

It also is adding 11,000 square feet of space, more than tripling the size of its office.

Synteract, which is based in San Diego, currently employs 14 people in the Triangle where it opened an office in 2007.

The company will be looking to fill positions in project management, clinical operations, biostatistics and data management.

“The Research Triangle area is one of the leaders in pharmaceutical and biotech development and we hope to capitalize on the excellent scientific, research, and programming expertise in that area,” said Ellen Morgan, Synteract’s chief executive officer and co-founder, in a statement. “Our West Coast clients know us for our character, integrity, and responsiveness and we plan to manage our East Coast operations in the same manner.”
