HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. – A pair of North Carolina companies are touting their green-energy efforts.

Lt. Gov. Walter Dalton plans to visit office and school furniture manufacturer OFM’s Holly Springs headquarters on Wednesday.

The company is celebrating the completion of a rooftop solar farm that will generate more than 320,000 kilowatts of electricity for sale to Progress Energy. Utilities are required by state law to find renewable energy sources.

IBM (NYSE: IBM) also touting its green energy efforts. The company said Tuesday a $360 million data center opened in February in Research Triangle Park met a national benchmark for green buildings by reusing 90 percent of the materials from the original building.

IBM says the new building uses half the energy of a typical data center.
