RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – Design firm will lead development of a new master plan for the Research Triangle Park.

According to media reports in The News & Observer and the Triangle Business Journal, the board picked the New York-based firm at a meeting on Thursday.

Richard Daugherty, a longtime IBM executive who retired and later spearheaded development of the Centennial Campus at N.C. State, is spearheading the effort, Rousseau said.

Daugherty told The Triangle Business Journal in a story published Aug. 27 that a new master plan would be the first for RTP since it was formed in 1959.

More than 170 companies operate in RTP and employs in excess of 42,000 workers as well as 10,000 contractors, according to the Foundation.
