CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Social game developer is giving pet lovers more to bark and purr about with a new Facebook game “Purina Pet Resort.”
The Chapel Hill-based studio, which is now part of social game firm Playdom, teamed with the pet food giant to create the simulation game that runs on the big social media site.
The game has been available for several weeks and has received Merscom and Purina made the formal announcement Thursday.
Within the Resort, players can develop and manage a virtual resort for pets.
“VIPs (very important pets) arrive at the resort and must have their needs seen to. You start out with two food stations, but can purchase more stations that expand the amenities you’re able to offer to include things like water bowls, a scratching post, litter boxes, and even playpens and salon stations. Many of these are unlocked at much later levels,” says social gaming review site GameZebo.
"Pet lovers spend a lot of time online and using mobile devices for fun and to enhance the relationship with their pets," said Guy Fish, assistant brand manager for Purina, in formally announcing the game.
"Purina Pet Resort caters to pet lovers who enjoy online games and would like to create a virtual haven for their four-legged friends."
Financial details were not disclosed.
