RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – Mark Cuban, the headliner for Local Tech Wire’s Executive Exchange event next week, won’t be coming to the Triangle as owner of Major League Baseball’s Texas Rangers. But he came oh, so close.

"I wish them the best," Cuban said early Thursday morning after Cuban and his team lost out in the bidding for the Rangers to a group led by Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan.

The complex negotiations in bankruptcy court didn’t go Cuban’s way despite a bid of some $598 million.

Insight that Cuban might offer about the bidding only adds to the knowledge and experiences that the billionaire entrepreneur owner of the NBA Dallas Mavericks will share with those who attend next Thursday’s event.

Part of the program includes a panel discussion with three Triangle entrepreneurs with Mitch Mumma of Intersouth Partners serving as the moderator.

The panelists are:

• Rich Lee, founder and chief executive officer of Hosted Solutions

• Aaron Houghton, co-founder and chairman of iContact

• Mike Doernberg, chief executive officer of ReverbNation

Intersouth and Southern Capitol Ventures are partnering with Local Tech Wire for the latest in LTW’s Executive Exchange series.
