MORRISVILLE, N.C. – , , is following up on its “LePhone” smart phone with a tablet PC to be known as the “LePad.”

The LePad, which will be rolled out this fall, is designed to counter Apple’s iPad.

Officials at the world’s No. 4 PC maker confirmed the LePad this week and said it will utilize the Android operating system.

The news comes after Lenovo Chairman Liu Chuanzhi told London’s Financial Times that Apple wasn’t making much of an effort in China.

“We are lucky that Steve Jobs has such a bad temper and doesn’t care about China,” Liu “If Apple were to spend the same effort on the Chinese consumer as we do, we would be in trouble.”

Lenovo’s global headquarters are located in Morrisville, but most of its operations are based in China.
