DURHAM, N.C. – Pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline (NYSE: GSK) is preparing to leave 88,000 square feet of office space at the in Durham.
A spokesperson for the ATC, which is owned by Capitol Broadcasting, told Local Tech Wire and WRAL.com that GSK has some 400 employees working on the campus.
GSK is consolidating some employees at its main campus in Research Triangle Park. GSK maintains its U.S. headquarters in RTP.
"All leases come to an end, but few relationships are as productive as the one we’ve enjoyed with GSK," said Michael Goodmon, vice president of real estate for Capitol Broadcasting Company. "GSK has been a cornerstone of American Tobacco’s success. We thank everyone at the company and wish them well."
Currently, ATC is more than 99 percent leased, the spokesperson said. The campus includes more than 800,000 square feet of space. More than 3,500 people work at ATC.
GSK has been a tenant at the ATC for seven years.
“The company is expected to wrap up its seven-year stay at the campus in June of 2011,” the spokesperson said. “Potential new tenants are already in talks to fill the premium office space. American Tobacco leaders are enthusiastic both about having available space to bring to a market that’s been bullish on the campus and about the legacy of GSK.”
