RALEIGH, N.C. – Jennifer Bumgarner, an advisor to Gov. Beverly Perdue, will become N.C.’s assistant secretary for energy at the as of July 1.

Bumgarner was a deputy policy director with an emphasis on energy and the environment for Perdue.

At Commerce, Bumgarner will direct the N.C. Energy Office, the Energy Policy Council, and the state’s weatherization program.

“Jennifer Bumgarner brings significant policy experience and expertise to this position,” said Commerce Secretary Keith Crisco. “We are pleased she is joining the Commerce team and know that she will continue to focus on moving forward our state’s energy efforts and programs, especially as we work to get recovery dollars and jobs out into communities and to support energy- and green-related businesses.”

Bumgarner has worked in the N.C. governor’s Policy Office since 2005.
