has announced that they now serve up more than two billion daily downloads a day. This incredible amount of traffic surpasses the three major networks primetime TV ratings, combined.

The video Web site made the announcement nearly five years after it launched on April 23, 2005, according to the BBC.

YouTube has become the place to share your videos with friends, family, and anyone else in the world that, before YouTube, would likely have never seen your video. There is no denying the power of YouTube either as anyone who uploads a video has a chance at becoming the next Internet sensation.

The first video uploaded to YouTube in 2005 was by co-founder Jawed Karim with a short clip titled "Me at the Zoo". Among other famous clips that have been spread across the internet are Susan Boyle’s performance on Britain’s Got Talent, Evolution of Dance, and most recently a young musician playing his version of Lady Gaga’s Paparazzi on the piano.

It appears YouTube’s future remains bright, and they will surely bring us more overnight Internet sensations and help spread breaking news around the world in a raw, uncut fashion.
