CONCORD, N.C. — The will announce a new private partner in two weeks, "a company you will all know," developer Lynne Scott Safrit said Friday.

Safrit compared the upcoming announcement to the recent partnership with Monsanto Co., the global agriculture biotechnology giant that will have a lab and about a dozen employees at the life sciences hub in downtown Kannapolis.

Monsanto is the highest profile tenant to date at the campus. PepsiCo last year backed out of an agreement to join the campus.

Safrit is chairperson of the Cabarrus Economic Development Corp. board and president of Castle & Cooke North Carolina, developer of the Research Campus. Campus officials hope to announce their new corporate partner May 25 at the Charlotte Regional Partnership Annual Awards Luncheon, Safrit said.
