RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – Venture capital firm Academy Funds has shut down.

VentureWire reported Thursday that the firm, which at one time maintained three offices in North Carolina, quoted Managing Director John Ciannamea as saying it has been “slowly winding down.”

“We last raised a fund 10 years ago,” he told the publication.

Academy Funds raised two funds after its launch in 1998. Portfolio firms included Biolex Therapeutics, Kucera Pharmaceuticals, Mi-Corp, Nitronex and Qualyst.
