RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – , a provider of data security related services across the U.S., is opening an office in Raleigh.

Currently staffed by two people, the Triangle operation will be expanded by several people going forward, the company said Monday. Accuvant said it will hire to fill sales and support. The Raleigh office will be responsible for sales in South Carolina and Virginia as well as North Carolina.

With 28 offices across the U.S., Accuvant provides services to some 2,500 clients. Among those are 35 of the Fortune 100 members.

“The state has a vast cross-section of large financial, health care and manufacturing companies, all of which have growing security needs," Mark Bennett, area vice president of sales for Accuvant, said in a statement. "Our success in Florida and unbelievable response from clients in Georgia gives us confidence that we can also serve the diverse client base in North Carolina."

Steve Crossman, an account manager for Accuvant, will lead the Raleigh office.

David Brown is the office’s solutions engineer.

Accvant, which is based in Denver, focuses on three practice areas:

• Risk and compliance

• Technology solutions

• Security assessment and research
