KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — With hope for an economic recovery on the horizon, the City of Kannapolis’ legislative priorities for the coming year are also primarily economic.

The Kannapolis City Council voted unanimously to adopt a 20-item legislative priority list last week, based on discussions in recent months and research performed by city staff.

Once more, the top priority is state support for the

"Similar to this past year, the next few state budgets appear to be challenging ones," City Manager Mike Legg’s report states. The report continues: "Even so, it is imperative that the original funding plan for the N.C. Research Campus not be altered or impaired in any way."

Any loss of state funds, the report said, could have a devastating impact.
