RALEIGH, N.C. – Blogging from the WWW 2010 conference where Vint Cerf, Internet evangelist for Google, just finished his keynote.

The world is going wireless for many reasons, from cost to access and convenience. But Cerf says bandwidth issues must be addressed.

"The biggest challenge is the availability of spectrum.”

Auctioning in the U.S. “does a disservice to creativity and to competition.”

Cerf advocates a license-free, shared environement.

“Look at what we have done with WiFi as an example”

"Technically, we could do much better with shared spectrum”

“Policy needs to change.”

"We can create networks with a lot less investment in infrastructure.”

“There is a lot of potential, but policies have to change.”

More later. One-on-one interview with Cerf.
