RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – , a provider of clinical research, financing, partnership and other services to life science companies around the world, has hired an executive to lead expansion efforts in Europe.

Tony van Bijleveld joins Quintiles as vice president for business development and operations in Central and Eastern Europe as well as the Russian Federation.

Quintiles launched efforts in those regions with an office in Austria in 1996.

His extensive commercial experience, ability to drive revenue growth and thorough understanding of the markets in Central and Eastern Europe, and the Russian Federation will help meet the challenges our customers face.”

Van Bijleveld worked most recently as general manager for Schering Plough in the Russian Federation. A life science executive since 1982, he has worked for other companies in various positions around the world.

Quintiles has some 10,000 employees spread across 30 countries.
